I've been making smoothies with things I learn are full of vitamins and nutrition, from Dr. Greger and others who believe in the value of a plant based, whole food diet.
I use:
- frozen cranberries (and/or others)
- carrots
- kale or cabbage
- banana... ripe (may be frozen)
- beans that I had previously cooked from dried
- chia seeds
- nutritional yeast
- horseradish, garlic, or fresh radish/dikon
- apple (or another fresh fruit)
- plant-based milk, using flax milk these days
- a chunk of peeled lemon
My friend, Lloyd, shared his smoothie recipe with me, so I add these now and then:
- turmeric root (1 inch)
- half a beet
