I am putting this resource, Preserve.eco, on my food blog, since so much food comes in plastic, and food is often stored in plastic. So plastic and food go together, unfortunately. How can we help the planet? How can we do better environmentally?
And this is really hopeful:
"Preserve Ocean Plastic Initiative (POPi) makes great products from plastic that was rescued from coastlines and waterways and was at risk of entering the ocean."
This gives us an alternative to recycling #5 plastics in our questionable town's program (it might be getting burned or in land-fill after all since China doesn't want our trash anymore). When Preserve's Gimme 5 program starts up again (on hold due to Covid-19 pandemic), we can send #5 plastics in to this group. They produce products like toothbrushes, razors, and plastic storage containers from what gets sent in.
We can buy from them plastic-wear that has been made from recycled plastic, for school lunches and home storage, and more.
